In their email to runners, Will Morey, president of Morey’s Piers, and race director Stephen DelMonte expressed regret and acknowledged that official pacers were among those mistaking the first aid station for the actual turnaround point. At one point, the race rebutted a claim that the course was changed at the last minute due to construction. ![]() Various theories for the distance shortfall played out for several days on the Wild Half’s Facebook page. The Wild Half announced a review Monday night upon acknowledging on its Facebook page that a “good number of athletes” had reported distance discrepancies. (Registration for the 2015 race included three days of admission to Morey's Piers, the boardwalk amusement park that also sponsors the race.) Entry fees for the 2016 race opened with a three-day special price of $59.99, then ranged from $90 by October 31 to $140 on the weekend of the race. ![]() Finishers are being offered a reduced registration fee of $50 for next year’s race.
